Are You Using the Best Oil for Your Ford?

You may have found yourself debating whether to get a regular oil change, or switch to synthetic. Is synthetic really better? Is it worth the price?

If you are like two-thirds of Americans nationwide, chances are you are pretty suspicious whenever an automotive repair center tries to get you to pay more for something. According to recent AAA study, however, synthetic oil isn't an unnecessary up-sell—it truly is better.

John Nielsen, AAA managing director of Automotive Engineering and Repair, said in a press release:

"Oil protects critical engine components from damage, and AAA found that synthetic engine oils performed an average of 47 percent better than conventional oils in a variety of industry-standard tests. With its superior resistance to deterioration, AAA’s findings indicate that synthetic oil is particularly beneficial to newer vehicles with turbo-charged engines and for vehicles that frequently drive in stop-and-go traffic, tow heavy loads, or operate in extreme hot or cold conditions."

This may not mean much to Mayfield drivers who are leasing a new Ford, but those who buy pre-owned, or plan to keep their vehicles for many years, will find significant advantages in long-term engine health by switching to synthetic motor oil.
